"Going to California" is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, featured on their fourth studio album Led Zeppelin IV (1971). It was written by lead vocalist Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page. The song was recorded in the summer of 1971 at Headley Grange, Hampshire, and was produced by Jimmy Page. It is a folk-style ballad, featuring acoustic guitars and mandolin. Plant's vocal is accompanied by Page's gentle electric guitar playing. The song is considered to be one of the band's most melancholy and reflective pieces. The remastered version of the song was released in 2014 as part of the band's re-issue of their entire catalog. It features improved sound quality and enhanced production values.
