"Blue Monday" is a song by English rock band New Order, released as a 12-inch single on 7 March 1983 by Factory Records and later re-released in 1988. It is a synth-pop and dance-rock song and was influential in the development of contemporary electronic music. It is built around a rhythm guitar riff, over a synthesizer bassline, percussion, and electronic drums. Bernard Sumner's vocals provide a bridge from the chorus to the next verse, and each chorus is punctuated by a keyboard line. The song was recorded and mixed by producer Martin Hannett at Strawberry Studios in Stockport, England, and was engineered by John Smith. It was produced by Sumner, Peter Hook, and Stephen Morris. The single's B-sides were two tracks taken from the studio album Power, Corruption and Lies, "The Beach" and "Confusion".

"Jobless Monday" is a song by American singer-songwriter Mitski, off her album Be the Cowboy. It is a reflective, mid-tempo track, featuring twangy guitar, dreamy synths, and light drums. The lyrics tell the story of a person who is stuck in a dead-end job, longing for freedom and a better life. The chorus reflects the protagonist's feelings of hopelessness and desperation, with Mitski singing: "What do I do, what do I do, on jobless Monday?" The song was produced by Patrick Hyland, who has also worked with such artists as Kanye West and Courtney Barnett.
