"I Wish Grandpas Never Died" is a song by American country singer Riley Green, released on October 16, 2020, as the lead single from his debut album If It Wasn't For Trucks. The song is a heartbreaking tribute to Green's late grandfather, who passed away two years ago. It is a nostalgic ballad that talks about how much Green misses him, how much he wished he could have spent more time with him, and how he would give anything to have one more chance to say goodbye. The song was produced by Derek Wells and co-written by Green, Josh Thompson, and Chase McGill. It was recorded at Wells' studio in Nashville and mixed by engineer Justin Niebank. The song has a traditional country sound with an acoustic arrangement, with Green's vocals front and center.
