"Tired of Being Alone" is a 1971 soul song by American singer-songwriter Al Green. It was released as the lead single from his album, Al Green Gets Next to You. The song was written and produced by Al Green and longtime collaborator Al Jackson Jr. It was recorded at the American Sound Studio in Memphis and features a horn section, string section, and backing vocals by the Memphis Boys. The song is a slow-tempo soul ballad in which Green laments his loneliness. It reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and number 6 on the R&B chart. The song has since been covered by a variety of artists, including Rod Stewart, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and Phil Collins.
