"Telephone" is a song by American singer Lady Gaga, featuring American rapper Beyoncé. It was released as the third single off Gaga's extended play, The Fame Monster (2009). The song is an electro-hop and R&B track, with disco influences. It was produced by Rodney Jerkins, with additional production by Gaga and Akon, who also contributed backing vocals. Lyrically, the song is about a woman fed up with her love interest's infidelity, and wanting to break off the relationship. The accompanying music video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund and was inspired by the film Pulp Fiction (1994). It features a number of cameos, including Tyrese Gibson, Gale Harold and Harvey Keitel. It was filmed in the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The song reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified five times platinum in the US. It was also successful in other countries, reaching the top 10 in several countries.
