"I'll Be Missing You (feat. 112)" is a song written and performed by Diddy, Faith Evans, and 112. It was released as the first single from Diddy's debut album, No Way Out, on June 17, 1997. The song is a tribute to Diddy's close friend, Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace, who had been killed the month prior. The song samples The Police's 1983 hit "Every Breath You Take". Production on the song was handled by Deric "D-Dot" Angelettie and Steven "Stevie J" Jordan. It was recorded at Hit Factory in New York City, while the mixing was done by Rich Travali and Jaymz Hardy-Martin III at Enterprise Studios in Burbank, California. The track samples a vocal sample from The Police's 1983 smash hit single "Every Breath You Take". "I'll Be Missing You" went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year, spending 11 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and was eventually certified six times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
