The song was written by Cabello, Amy Wadge, Benny Blanco, Ed Sheeran, and Andrew Watt, and produced by Blanco and Watt. The song is a mid-tempo R&B ballad about the consequences of a failed relationship. Cabello croons about missing a former lover and trying to find her own way back to happiness. The song features a sample of "La Di Da Di" by Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick. The accompanying music video for the song was released on April 23, 2016 and was directed by Kahlil Joseph with cinematography by Malik Sayeed.
